Super-Rare Foxbody SAAC Mustang!
So many cars, not enough time! We were thrilled to get our hands on our client’s, 1-of-65 1992 SAAC Ford Mustang MK1’s which came in for servicing! We also showcase a pristine, 1990 BMW M3 E30 in for bodywork and paint correction!
More on that 1992 SAAC Ford Mustang ⬇️
What’s SAAC you ask? It stands for: Shelby American Auto Club. It was essentially the brainchild behind Ken Eber and Rick Kopec who wanted to resurrect a current-generation Shelby GT350, however, without Carrol Shelby himself who had joined forces with Chrysler/Plymouth division.
The SAAC Mustang MK1 came equipped with the traditional 5.0L 302ci small-block, though, a GT-40 intake and cylinder heads, a 65mm throttle-body and ceramic-coated, short-tube headers, underdrive pulleys and 1.6:1 roller rockers were added to spice up the build! It even got a Centerforce clutch and made 295 horsepower and 334 lb-ft of torque.
And its performance numbers were equally impressive. According to 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine, it shot to 60mph from 0 in 5.2 seconds and ran the quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds at 98 mph!
It all sat on Ford Performance suspension on a set of three-piece, 17-inch Simmons wheels. As stated by 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Magazine, those Simmons wheels are five-lug with brakes inside of them straight from the Ford Racing Performance Parts (Ford Motorsport at that time) M-2300 line of brake conversion kits.
